Courage Reins Farm Riding Arena Project
Courage Reins Farm is raising money to build a new riding arena that will allow children to ride year-round. Keep reading to learn more and find out how you can help!
At Courage Reins Farm, we feel fortunate to be located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. However, the region’s infamous rainfall makes riding impossible during the wetter months of the year. Although the spring and summer months are dry and wonderful for riding, the rainy seasons leave our current dirt riding arena a muddy, sloppy mess that is unsafe for riding. This hinders our ability to provide riding opportunities for children year-round.

Year-round riding is crucial to our mission at Courage Reins Farm. We are committed to providing children fighting cancer an opportunity to gain courage and joy from horseback riding, regardless of what time of year they visit. Many children receive cancer treatments during the summer and may not feel well enough to visit the farm until the fall or winter months. By then, riding may be impossible due to the muddy arena. Although children still visit the farm to get a break from the hospital and interact with the horses, it is not quite the same experience if they are unable to actually ride.
Courage Reins Farm plans to build an all-weather outdoor riding arena with sand footing that will drain quickly after a rainfall and remain usable year-round. Although our “someday” plans include a covered riding arena, for now we are focused on building a safe, all-weather outdoor arena. Our progress so far includes a cleared site and some donated materials. We have raised a portion of the construction costs, however, we still have a long way to go before we have sufficient funds to begin building.
